Shadow of the Tomb Raider gets release date

Hey everyone, Beximus here!
Hope you guys are doing great.

There are so many good things happening in the videogame industry right now, and we are constantly sharing great content on the Sofa Gamers TwitterInstagram and YouTube Gaming Channel. Then I was like, “man, I have to share all this videogames love on the blog too”.

So here it is, fresh from the Square Enix bakery, Shadow of the Tomb Raider!
Let’s dive in.

Playing the Tomb Raider

If you check our latest post, it was our first article in 7 months! That was a long time being idle. But I’m back and for no particular reason, I guess. Or maybe there is one after all. Or too many, to be precise. No Man’s Sky “NEXT” is close to release (a couple of months maybe) as well its availability for XBox One. Kratos is back (oh my, God of War looks phenomenal!). And Lara Croft is returning in September. Those are 3 big enough reasons for me to get back into blogging.

Lately I’ve been playing Tomb Raider Definitive Edition on my PS4 and I’ve been completely in love by the way young Lara Croft has been crafted. Her innocent early 20’s girl expressions (except when she is killing those fanatics); the survival instincts that made her such a respected character; how she always finds a way to thrive in the most adverse conditions; that’s Lara Croft at its best! That’s the Tomb Raider I’ve been missing since the first game came out (yes, I’ve played it when it was released and it was such a gem)!

Release date announced for Shadow of the Tomb Raider

I’ve been crazy wanting to finish the Definitive Edition (almost there), then I’ll purchase the 20 year celebration Rise of Tomb Raider and go until the end, so I can close these 2 chapters before September 14, now the official release date for Shadow of The Tomb Raider.

The official date was announced a few days ago in Montreal, London, and Los Angeles in April the 26th. During the events, fans were welcomed to experience first hand the next installment of the franchise: Shadow of The Tomb Raider.

Become the Tomb Raider

What new things can we expect then? Here’s the official synopsis:

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse, Lara will be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.

One of the things I’ve read about in some news websites was that the multiplayer aspect will play a bigger part in Shadow. But there’s still much to be revealed about Lara’s journey on the Mayan landscapes. So let’s be patient and enjoy what we already know.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is available for Pre-order

The game is already available for digital and physical pre-orders, and these are the options we have:

+ Standard Editon

– Just the game

+ Croft Edition

The Croft Edition includes the game itself, along with all of the items listed below:

– Season Pass
– Original Game Soundtrack
– 1  weapon/outfit
– 2 Additional weapons/outfits

Following a first Weapon/Outfit drop on Sep 14th, Season Pass content will release on a monthly basis starting in October 2018.

+ Ultimate Edition

The Shadow of the Tomb Raider Ultimate Edition is the most comprehensive version of the game, and includes the following:

– Season Pass, featuring 7 Challenge Tombs, each with new narrative side missions. The Season Pass also delivers 7 Weapons, 7 Outfits, and 7 Skills.
– 3 additional Weapons and Outfits
– Original Game Soundtrack
– Lara Croft “Terrifying Tombs” Statue: A highly detailed replica of Lara, in which she readies her trusty machete and prepares to enter a deadly tomb.
– Replica Flashlight: Bring Lara’s Flashlight on any adventure you embark upon.
– Climbing Axe Bottle Opener: Lara’s Climbing Axe is a multi-purpose tool, which also functions as a bottle opener.
– 48 Hour Early Access: When pre-ordering, you will obtain 48 hour early access to the full Shadow of the Tomb Raider game.

Of course that, as a collector myself, I can’t wait to grab the Ultimate Edition (although it seems to be out of stock already). I’m pretty curious to see more details on Lara’s statue. My only doubt is, what to do with the bottle cap opener? I’m not someone that drinks alcohol… maybe I can use it to climb some rocks with it, Lara Croft style.
