The new FIFA 18 trailer landed and we couldn’t be happier!
Before we start, I need to make a confession: I was always a PES player since the early days and the last time I effectively played FIFA was in my Sega Mega Drive (Genesis for US mates)! Therefore, I hope to have the pardon from most FIFA fans…
So, last year I made my return with all the fuss that was building around FIFA 17. Why? Well, mainly because of Mr. Alex Hunter and his journey to glory. Finally we were having a football game (sorry peeps, soccer is only used in the US but hey, I’m from Portugal, European football champions!) with a single player career mode with an exciting story, proper depth, family and friends (or so we thought) and the promise of glory! This said, it seems that I didn’t need much to try it out.
In addition to “part 2” of The Journey being announced with Alex Hunter as the main character, another big reason for me to already like FIFA 18 is the fact that my fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo is in the cover of FIFA for the 1st time! It was about time for ‘The Best’ to be featured (go Portugal)!
Don’t change a winning team
FIFA 18 will keep its Frostbite engine, which proved the best bet in last year’s edition. Personally, I would love to see some improvements in the passing, as I still struggle a bit with creating solid and memorable plays from box to box. Same applies for tackling, getting the right timing makes me wanna rip my hair out! Hopefully these 2 aspects of gameplay approach the PES style, which makes the beautiful game more fluid and intuitive. I don’t wish FIFA to be easier, don’t get me wrong! Whenever I start playing a new game a go for hard difficulty or at least normal, going easy is never an option for me. If these 2 aspects are properly addressed in 18’s version, FIFA would drastically improve. I just want to score goals and make those 90 minutes turned 10 minutes into memorable moments for the fans at the stadium!
FUT – Icons to replace Legends
We already knew for obvious reasons that Ronaldo Nazário would be an Icon in FIFA 18, but it seems like these fellows will be joining him too:
- Maradona
- Pelé
- Lev Yashin
- Thierry Henry
