Death Stranding launches in 2 days & we couldn’t be more hyped!
Hello my friends, Beximus here!
Death Stranding will launch in just 2 days and we are super excited here!!! Master Hideo Kojima’s last work is around the corner and the hype couldn’t be higher. Let’s dive in!
Why I don’t wanna know the story of Death Stranding
(before I start playing)
I’ll be fully honest with you (as always, but just making sure), I have tried to stay as far away as possible from spoilers, trailers and reviews from Death Stranding. The reason behind that is simple, I wanna approach this game with my surprise levels at a maximum high! In other words, in 2 days I want to start playing it as I didn’t know 99% of the story or its characters, what they’re about to do or their journey, and what’s their final purpose or end game.
It has been a hard task, but one worth fighting for. I mean, this is Hideo Kojima’s next game! The man is almost like a god in the videogames industry. The Metal Gear series are is most known work, but he also created other games, one of the most famous being P.T., a horror tale from the Silent Hill series that never saw its full completion. There are some people who still have the game in their old PS4, but the game was removed from the PS store soon after its demo was made available. That only contributed to make a cult around the game, as it’s impossible to get. If you wanna know more about it, go here.
The roster of actors is just insane!
I mean, do I even have to mention them? I sure do 🙂 It’s probably one of the best rosters ever assembled to participate in a videogame. Here we go: Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, LĂ©a Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Tommie Earl Jenkins, Troy Baker, and Lindsay Wagner provided motion capture, 3D scannings and vocal performances, while film directors Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn are also featured. WOW!
Even comedian Conan O’Brien has a cameo, hilarious!
With such squad assembled, you can truly understand the level of quality being put in this game. Kojima is a Director, not just a videogames creator. He carries with him such legacy, and as soon technology allowed, you could start seeing how good Metal Gear Solid started to be in terms of in-game cinematics. I have very good memories of Metal Gear Solid 2 and its phenomenal cinematic breaks. It was like watching a real movie in a PS2! Now it’s 2019, tech evolved substantially and Death Stranding might just be one of the best “movie like” videogames we’ve ever seen.
(very) High Expectations
While writing this article, I came across an Instagram post where it showed half a dozen review ratings. Most were like 10/10 or close, while one of them showed 3.5/10. As mentioned in the beginning of this post, I tried my best to stay away from spoilers and reviews. I haven’t read any, because above all, I want to have my own experience and only after evaluate the game myself.
I can’t say who’s right or wrong, probably everyone is right. Reviews are a tricky thing, and I try to make SofaGamers.com a place of positivity, as I only share games I love and my experiences from playing them. Doesn’t mean I’m right, doesn’t mean I’m wrong, it’s simply my perspective, my experience and memories from giving time to something I like. If I grab a game I don’t like, which is a rare thing, I simply don’t spend time playing it, much less writing about it. I’ll jump into the next best thing right away. In other words, I just go play something else I enjoy.
Being a reviewer can be tough at times, I get that. You have to do the job, whether you like the game given to you or not. And to those professionals I am grateful. They are doing what they know. But as in any profession, we put our personal touch in what we do, the work itself becomes a reflection of what we are. Therefore, it sometimes happens that I interact with content I’m not interested in. Because I don’t resonate with that line of thinking, I simply don’t spend time reading or watching it. On the other hand, I’ve also dealt of loads of positivity and criticism that are objective and constructive. It shows the flaws, what could have been done better, but without the bitterness and harshness that still sells so much.
So, in regards of Death Stranding, I just need to wait 2 more days and then make up my own mind about it. I might even write a review about it, LOL! I’m all about the experience and a good narrative and I have a feeling that I’ll be enjoying DS a ton! Thank the maker!
